Keep Refreshing For The Latest Results

SICKOS! It’s Wednesday, you know what that means! AEW Dynamite is LIVE tonight from the Akins Ford Arena in Athens, Georgia. However, tonight’s show is WAY more than just a standard episode of Dynamite. No, tonight will be dedicated to Tanea “Rebel” Brooks, as she continues her fight against the debilitating illness known as ALS, otherwise known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. Not only will she be honored as the company continues to support her, but we’re getting the return of the Waiting Room with Doctor Britt Baker DMD and Rebel! What a joyous day indeed!

Ordinarily, I would do the Headlines here, but this review is a special occasion, seeing as to how tonight’s show marks the second-year anniversary of yours truly covering Dynamite for the site. Granted, my time of writing actually goes back to June of 2023 when I solicited the site with a preview of that year’s AEW Forbidden Door, but as far as show coverage, two marks the spot! And I wouldn’t be here without you fine folks who interact with my work, comment, like, grade and, yes, even if you hate it, because that means I’m always doing something right. I am grateful for the community and the people who allow me to continue to do what I do on here, for without an audience, I’m simply talking to four walls alone. So, THANK YOU, AND I LOVE YOU ALL!

Also, this recap and review is dedicated to the late and great Andy Williams, aka the Butcher of AEW fame, who passed away tragically at just 48. While I wasn’t the biggest fan of Every Time I Die, I still enjoyed the band’s work and Andy was a big part of that. Also, Williams in AEW as the Butcher to the Blade and the Bunny was always a fun time, and that theme song kicked ass. We lost you WAY too soon, Andy, but I know you will rest in paradise with your guitar and wrestling boots.

But enough about me and enough about you, let’s get ready to mend that Rebel Heart!

Tonight’s it’s all about mending a Rebel Heart, as Excalibur, Tony Schivaone, and Taz will be on the call!

In Memoriam of “The Butcher” Andy Williams opens the show, with fans chanting his name in the background.

Excalibur welcomes us to the show, and we get a rundown of the card. Steve Borden will make his in-ring debut tonight!

And we’re taking a trip to the Waiting Room! Rebel introduces the good Doctor, Britt Baker DMD! Britt again calls her REBA, but she says that her strength and perseverance are incredible. She hugs her and Rebel says it’s REBEL LOL! Britt says things have changed around her over the past year, and she didn’t like what she saw, so she corrected a wrong, and she introduces Persephone! “Sephy” comes out and she says she will drag everyone into the underground with her tonight! Britt says that they managed to do something that no one expected, and that was reunite them with Hikaru Shida!

Shida is out, and she makes fun of the time that she broke Britt’s nose and says she looks better now for it. She used to have Rebel and Britt, but now she hates Maya World even more! Britt says see you out there tonight, baby cakes! Rebel doing the Tony Atlas laughs was great, and it was even better to see her there. ❤️

It’s Trio’s time!

AEW Trio’s Titles Match: Swerve Strickland and the New Level (C) vs. The Conglomeration

Kofi and Cassidy to start this one. Go-behind from Kofi, Cassidy rolls around and takes the arm. Kofi off the ropes with a shoulder tackle. Cassidy with a flying mare, he does the lazy thumbs up, and Kofi is like the hell LOL! Kofi ends up showing respect, and O’Reilly and Creed are in. Both men feel each other out for a bit, O’Reilly with leg kicks, Creed tries to kick back, but he’s not winning that battle. Creed ends up catching the leg of Kyle and tripping him up. Austin goes running and he shoulders O’Reilly to the mat.

Tag to Kofi, and they do some double team offense. Roderick comes into the ring and he attacks everyone. He uses Cassidy to throw him into Kofi and Austin, and then he hits a Fallaway Slam on Cassidy right into Strickland! Creed ends up trapped, where the challengers run the clothesline train on him as we hit the break.

O’Reilly with YES kicks to Creed as we return. Austin won’t back down and he keeps popping back up! Creed to his feet with chops to Kyle’s chest, but O’Reilly shuts the door with strikes. Suplex attempt, but Austin counters it and lands his own vertical suplex. Kofi and Strong with the tags, and Kofi is GHANA make us crazy! Kofi with the Escalera for a two, NEW-LEV-EL leg drop follows! Kofi looking for Trouble in New Level Land, but Strong catches him out with a backbreaker.

Strickland with the tag, and he avoids a backbreaker of his own. Strong hooks the ropes on Swerve’s dropkick attempt, and Roddy knocks Creed to the floor. Strickland to the floor, but he pulls Roddy out of the ring, TRIPLE TEAM SET-UP AND SPLASH! Back in the ring, and Creed hits the King’s Elbow, but Cassidy makes the save.

OC to the top rope, but he misses, and Kofi drives him face first into the mat with his knee. Tag team offense unlocked by the New Level, but Strong and O’Reilly are here to save Cassidy. We have entered the part of the match where everyone gets their shit in! Wheelbarrow assisted leg drop into a German by the New Level on Roddy! Swerve to the top, but Cassidy avoids and he puts his hands in his pockets! Cassidy with the dropkick to Strickland, but the New Level pick up Cassidy! CASSIDY IS TRYING TO GET HIS HAND IN HIS POCKETS, AND NOW HE’S UNLEASHING VICIOUS KICKS ON STRICKLAND! Swerve is like F this and New Level toss Cassidy at him, but Cassidy reverses with a Rana!

Oh, look out, here comes everyone gets their shit in part two, now with the car crash effect on the floor! KOFI chants, he avoids the Orange Punch, and he has Cassidy set up for Strickland to come along and hit the House Call! Creed to the top, Day Break from Austin and Kofi, and they retain the titles!
WINNERS: Swerve Strickland and the New Level (and still!)
TIME: 15:00
THOUGHTS: That ended up being a hell of a lot of fun, not going to lie. It started slowly, but it built up to be a fantastic run and car crash level. New Level and Strickland are great together.
RATING: ****

Ricky and the Gang are here! Spare him this handshaking and kumbaya crap, and he says that Toa’s shoulders weren’t down on the mat and therefore they never should have lost the titles. So, he wants the Champions to get to stepping before they come in there and lay an ass whopping on them. They surround the ring, but here comes Hangman Adam Page and Brodido to even the sides up! Toa has to be physically restrained by Ricky because he wants to fight them all! UH oh, we have a tug-of-war over the Trio’s Titles! Brodido hand the titles to New Level, and after a stare down, Hangman hands Swerve his title.

To the back we go with Steven Borden and Darby Allin. Steven says he has lived in his father’s shadow, but he wants to make a name for himself. He watched decades of his father’s career in front of his eyes at Revolution, and he didn’t want to go back and ask WHAT IF? So, he called a man who understood, Darby Allin. Allin says the training wheels are off and the pressure is on now. You don’t have to be the second coming of Sting; you need to worry about being the first Steven Borden.

For what it’s worth, Borden somehow came off looking like a cross between Angelo Parker and Alex Wright with a Fonz jacket on.

We go back to ringside, where everyone talks about how great Andy Williams was and how much he meant to everyone behind the scenes. Excalibur tries to hold it together, but he barely does, and we see the video wall is covered with Butcher moments. We also see that this Saturday’s Collision will be a Tribute Show to Andy. So, SO considerate and amazing.

BREAK IN PROGRESS!

The Remarkable Renee Paquette is hanging out with the Don Callis Family in the back. Josh Alexander says Steven Borden isn’t the only with something to prove tonight, as he’s been on the shelf for months. Mark Davis says they are going to beat the snot of yinz. Kyle Fletcher says that him and Kevin Knight actually got along great on Collision. Knight says if, WHEN, they beat the Young Bucks tonight, what does that mean for them. They go to leave, but Kazuchika Okada is here! He tells Fletcher that he is so happy that he finally found the value in FAMILY! Oh, that shit eating grin from Okada LOL!

It’s time for the ladies!

Maya World, Hyan, and Thunder Rosa vs. TBS and CMLL Women’s Champion Persephone, Hikaru Shida, and Dr. Britt Baker DMD

Baker and Rosa to start this one. But WAITJUSTAMINUTE, Baker tags in Persephone lol. Rosa with a shoulder tackle, Persephone kips right up. Rosa hits a second one, but Persephone picks up Rosa and drives her to the corner. Backslide attempt from Rosa for a two. Tag to Hyan, as Rosa hits a basement crossbody to Persephone. Maya with a running splash and Hyan with a leg drop, but Persephone is still out at two.

Persephone turns the tables as she catches Hyan with a Powerslam for a two. Tag to Shida, she goes to kick once but doesn’t, and the second time, Hyan catches it. Tag to World, who snaps her own partner into the corner into Shida. Maya to the top with a Shooting Star Press for a two. Maya off the ropes, she grabs ahold of Maya, which allows Shida to hit an enziguri, and that takes us to the break!

Shida is singlehandedly taking out Maya and Hyan as we return. Shida distracts the ref (I don’t blame him), which allows Persephone and Baker the chance to attack Maya. World fights them off and tags in Rosa. There is miscommunication that causes Persephone to hit Shida, which allows Rosa the chance to take care of them with corner running knees. Britt from behind, but it only pisses Rosa off. Persephone is in to save Baker, but Shida almost knees her in the face. They argue over this, allowing Hyan to come off the top with a crossbody to both ladies. Hyan ends up getting caught up in the teamwork from the heels, allowing Maya and Rosa the chance to take everyone out except for Baker.

Rosa approaches Baker, but she sneaks out of the ring and runs away from Rosa, Persephone is waiting for her with a SPEAR, though, and we end up going into the Get Your Shit in spots. Here comes Rebel! She hands Britt the glove, and they share a moment, allowing Hyan the chance to roll her up for a two. Thrust kick from Baker, and Britt with the Lockjaw, forcing Hyan to tap out!
WINNERS: Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida, and Persephone
TIME: 10:30
THOUGHTS: The match itself was fun to be sure, but we were ALL waiting for Rebel to make her way down to the ring for this one and give the glove to Britt. On that front, it was a rollicking success.
RATING: ***3/4

We segue into a video package for Rebel and her history in AEW. She discusses seeing effects of ALS in 2025 but not being diagnosed until early 2026. We need funding and we do need understanding, and for someone to pick up the torch and lead the charge. We get an interpolation of everyone doing the ice bucket challenge including Tony Khan in his suit. Rebel says we are so close to a cure, and we can do this.

We take a moment to let the situation breathe before Excalibur says that Andrade will defend his title against FRANK, next!

BREAK IN PROGRESS!

Andrade El Idolo video package after the break. He says he will defend his National Title every week, but as truly liminary would say, HOW YOU KNOW?

AEW National Title Match: Andrade El Idolo (C) vs. FRANK Mortos

Andrade and Aubrey have a prolonged moment when he gives her his title belt, allowing FRANK to run in. Andrade gets Aubrey out of the way and then hits a Tiaras. Mortos with a shoulder tackle, but he ends up on the floor, and Andrade takes him out with a Tope Cornio! It’s time for selfie time with the Baddies at ring side! Back in the ring, however, a different story is told as Mortos takes out Andrade and clotheslines him to the floor. Here comes FRANK with a big Tornio, and that takes us to the break!

Andrade is fighting back with forearms as we return. Off the ropes, and he connects with a flying forearm! Off comes the pants, and Aubrey acts like she doesn’t want none lol. Andrade takes WAY too long here, allowing FRANK the chance to hit the pop-up Samoan Drop for a two. FRANK roars in rage, he sends Andrade to the corner, but Andrade does a handstand! Mortos catches him and hits the step lung blower for a two. Mortos lifts up Andrade onto his shoulders, but Andrade falls back down to the mat and tries to roll him up. I’m not sure what happened there. Andrade ends it with Dos Muerte and the DM to retain.
WINNER: Andrade El Idolo (and still!)
TIME: 7:15
THOUGHTS: The match was fine, but I’m not sure if it was supposed to be this short or if the ending was changed after what looked like a drop that went wrong. It’s always nice to see FRANK in the ring, though!
RATING: ***1/2

Post-match, Andrade has the mic. He says Mortos is a good wrestler, but he’s not good enough to defeat Andrade. He said he would defend his title every week, and he has just one question. I’d tell you what it is, but I may have forgot the question lol. Here come the Dogs! The MADMAN makes fun of Andrade as the guys look to lay in a beating, but here comes Billy Goat BRUV to make the save! He clears the ring of the Dogs and helps Andrade up to his feet! The Death Riders music hits and here comes Jon Moxley and Marina Shafir!

Oh, yeah, we have a match here lol.

AEW World Heavyweight Title Eliminator Match: Will Ospreay vs. David Finlay

Ospreay attacks at the bell, but he ends up getting overpowered by Finlay. Ospreay mounts Finlay in the corner for punches, but Finlay takes him out of the corner and to the opposite corner to show Will how HE throws hands. Ospreay fires back with chops, a springboard cutter, and a clothesline to the floor, where he hits Finlay with a springboard crossbody! Ospreay stares down Moxley at the table as we hit the break.

It sounds like someone is trying to eat their mic as we return. Finlay is in control, but he sends Ospreay to the corner, and he fires back with a BRUV forearm from the top! Ospreay off the ropes with the corkscrew kick for a two. Ospreay with the Kawada kicks, but Finlay answers with uppercuts. Finlay off the rope, but he gets used a human wall and hit with an enziguri. Ospreay looks to take off, but Finaly grabs him by the pants and hits a backbreaker for a two.

Ospreay with a kick to the ear of Finlay and he hits the Liger Bomb for a two. Ospreay looking for the Hidden blade, but Finlay gets out of bounds. Will approaches, but David jacks his jaw off the top rope. Finaly throws himself into a lariat for a two. Ospreay counters Finlay with a roll-up for a two. Will connects with a springboard Oscutter for a two! Hidden Blade attempt, but Davis catches him with a backslide. Stun Dog Millionaire from Ospreay, he hits the BRUV Clash, and that’s a win for the Billy Goat BRUV!
WINNER: Will Ospreay
TIME: 10:30
THOUGHTS: Will competing and being in the ring is always a fun time to be had, but I have to question how or why Finlay got this chance. Granted, it wasn’t for the title, but I could think of a few more worthy challengers than Finlay.
RATING: ***1/2

Renee is in the back with Hangman Adam Page and Brodido. Renee asks them if they are still in the hunt for the Trio’s Titles, and Brody basically says, with all due respect, that Hangman is the whore of the Trios Division lol. King says it seemed like Hangman came back for something else, and Page doesn’t deny this, but he says he needed this team. If it’s cool with you, I want to remain with you guys. King asks Bandido how he feels about this, and he is very excited and approves!

It’s time for the Don Callis Family Variety Hour!

TNT Champion Darby Allin and Steven Borden vs. Josh Alexander and Mark Davis w/Don Callis and Lance Archer

Schiavone waxes poetic about being able to call Steven’s matches here on TBS after calling his dad’s matches for years. Allin and Davis to open, but Allin tags in Borden instead! Borden takes control with a shoulder tackle, a shot to the gut, and an arm drag. Davis to his feet, but Borden switches into a side headlock. Allin tags back in and keeps the side headlock. Davis frees himself and ends up getting smacked around by Darby and Steven lol. Allin knocks Alexander off the corner and hits an incoming Davis with a springboard Coffin Drop! Alexander with the tag, and he chop blocks Allin and Davis hits the back splash senton as we go to break.

Davis has Allin in the Texas Cloverleaf as we return. Davis switches to a sit-down powerbomb and he does the Butcher knee drop stomps! Very cool! Tag to Alexander, who hits Darby with a scoop slam and tags right back to Davis. Mark’s turn to chuck him to the mat and Josh is back. At this point it becomes a game of who can slam Darby the hardest lol. Allin says ENOUGH and he rolls up Davis for a two. Dunkzilla misses his back senton, and Alexander takes Borden off the corner. Allin with a shotgun dropkick to Alexander, but here comes Davis to pull Borden from the corner and he throws him into the barricade.

Alexander slams Allin to the mat knee first and the DCF members celebrate. Perhaps it was premature, because Alexander misses his corner change and Davis’s German is countered by Allin and Borden tags in! Borden lays out both Josh and Mark! Mark to the floor, Stven off the ring steps, SUPER STING PUNCH! Back in the ring, and Borden counters Alexander with a military press, but here comes Davis to chop Borden in the back. Mark to the top, but Borden crowns him with a dropkick! Davis is set up for the Superplex, but Alexander grabs Borden and hits the Rack Bomb! The cover, but Allin makes the save.

The straps are down as Alexander tells Darby to COME ON, BITCH! Alexander to the corner, here comes Borden back to the ring. COMBINATION COFFIN DROP AND SCORPION DEATH DROP! Allin takes out Davis on the floor with a tope suicida, and Borden wins it for his team!
WINNER: Darby Allin and Steven Borden
TIME: 11:50
THOUGHTS: Borden COULD use a little bit of work, but he looked really good in this match with Allin leading the way. Steven sold well, looked fluid, and the combination finish is very unique.
RATING: ***1/2

Video package for the 3-way tag team titles match at All-Out! It cracks me up that they are only referring to it as a LADDERS match lol.

Thekla is here, DUMB BITCHES! ATLANTA! WHERE ARE MY DUMB BITCHES AT? Thekla doesn’t need a title to have a celebration, the party follows her wherever she goes. Last week, Mercedes was telling the story just like everyone else in the back, and then there is Thekla! She didn’t grow up a fan girl; she grew up in a punk band in Austria! But one night, she saw a guy getting beaten up in the basement, and she used a chicken to kick the man’s ass. And she hopes that Mone’s title still smells like sex, drugs, and rock and roll!

Mercedes Mone is here to interrupt Thekla! Mone says her name is Big D Mone, and you can ask Willow how that tastes. Mone isn’t concerned with Thekla, she has dealt with egos bigger than hers and she always comes out on top.

Thekla says the one thing they can agree on is that Willow is the dumbest bitch in all of AEW history! In fact, if she was out here now, Thekla would piss on all of her clouds…

But wait, Willow IS here! She charges the ring, and Thekla high tails it lol. Skye Blue and Julia Hart join Thekla on the ramp, and everyone is talking at everyone!

The main event is up next!

BREAK IN PROGRESS!

The Death Riders are in the back. PAC tells Jon Moxley that he was crazy for trusting Will Ospreay, he was never a Death Rider. Daniel Garcia actually defends Ospreay and he says that Will was always cool with him. Gabe Kidd basically calls him an idiot and then says they left Will in a hospital a year ago with a broken neck, what happened around here? Ospreay is here in the flesh! Kidd starts yelling, and Marina and Garcia push him off screen. Ospreay says are you surprised that it’s come down to us? He tells Jon that this can go one of two ways. Either Moxley can come to the title match with the Death Riders flanking him, or he they can go one-on-one and go for 60 minutes. Moxley is the only one to pin him this year, but Ospreay has a plan, and he will bring it to Moxley. Ospreay leaves, and Moxley kicks the chair he was sitting in and stalks. PAC starring at Moxley the whole time like he wants to take over the Death Riders.

It’s time for the MAIN EVENT (/Mark Henry voice)

Tables Elimination Match: The Young Bucks vs. Kevin Knight and Kyle Fletcher

The Bucks hit the ring and go right after Knight and Fletcher as the bell rings. Knight is deposited on the floor, and we get some SEE YA action to take out Knight. WE WANT TABLES chants when, literally, they WILL get tables LMAO. The Bucks return Kevin and Kyle to the ring and look for a double suplex to the table on the floor, but Kevin and Kyle counter by suplexing the Bucks back into the ring. Matt Jackson throws Fletcher into Knight, and then the Bucks hit a double team set-up into a stomp to Knight.

Matt and Nick to the top rope and they wipe out Knight and Fletcher with crossbody blocks. The Bucks send another table into the ring, and it is set up in the corner of the ring. Matt looks to do the Locomotion into the table with Knight, but Fletcher is here to save him. Double team suplex attempt, but Nick saves Matt. Kevin and Kyle catch a flying Matt, but instead of putting him through the TABLE, they powerbomb him onto the apron! Smart! Fletcher beats up both Bucks on the floor, and Knight takes flight and wipes them out as we hit what I assume will be our final break of the show.

Knight looking for the Coast-to-Coast dropkick, but the Bucks shove a table in his face as we return. Matt hits a Sliced Bread off the table to Fletcher, and he fakes out Knight with a SUPERKICK for a low kick. Knight ends up being set up for some double team offense, but Fletcher is back. He counters Nick, but both Bucks strand him on the top rope. Double stomp from Matt into a Liger Bomb from Nick onto the table that doesn’t break. The Bucks look for a Meltzer Driver through the table to Knight, but Fletcher stops that. He ends up eating an apron DDT from Matt, who screams SEE YOU IN HELL!

OH, WE WANT THE TABLES chants now as both teams are trading in the middle of the ring. The Bucks play off of one another to kick both of their opponents in the head, and Knight eats the Meltzer Driver! Fletcher is served up for the EVP Trigger! Knight to the apron, Matt looking Sunset Bomb, but it takes Nick to help out and Knight goes through the table!

It’s now 2-on-1 but wait, Matt suffers a back body drop out of the ring and through a table! It’s down to Fletcher and Nick, as Kyle hits a Brain Buster! Kyle sets up the table in the corner, Nick slides underneath it and SUPERKICKS Fletcher. Nick off the table with a Destroyer! Another SUPERKICK sets up Kyle onto the table. Nick to the top, but FTR are here! Nick fights off Dax and Cash, but Stokley grabs ahold of Nick, allowing Fletcher to hit an Avalanche Brain Buster through the table for the win!
WINNERS: Kevin Knight and Kyle FLetcher
TIME: 15:10
THOUGHTS: I’m glad I am not a betting man here, because I was fairly sure that the Bucks were going to win here to keep them strong heading into the 3-way ladder match at All-Out. But with the involvement from FTR and Stoke, it protected them and allowed the odd couple team of Knight and Fletcher to continue on at 2-0. A very good main event.
RATING: ***3/4

Post-match, the DCF and FTR look to beat up the Bucks, but Darby Allin and Steven Borden (Tony: IT’S STEEEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVEEEEEEENNNNN!) make the save! FTR hightail it, and Knight and Fletcher stand on the announce table. The good guys shake hands! Yay! Everyone talks to one another as Excalibur runs down matches for next week and he reminds us that Collision will be a tribute to Andy “The Butcher” Williams.

And with that, we are done!
