Hey kids! Steve Cook here with you for the latest edition of WWE NXT on the CW! Two of my worlds are colliding, as we’re seeing some of the AAA crew in action this week! El Hijo del Vikingo will defend the AAA Latin American Championship while the Wagner Brothers will challenge for the NXT Tag Team Championship. We’ll also see Mason Rook take on Jackson Drake, Jaida Parker vs. Karmen Petrovic, and much more tonight, so it’ll be a good time!

We open by looking back at Sunday’s Great American Bash event. Saquon Shugars beat Dion Lennox but still got beat up by DarkState. Shiloh Hill used some under the ring shenanigans to defeat Tristian Angels. Tony D’Angelo overcame a bad eye to beat Naraku. Kendal Grey won the NXT Women’s Championship from Lola Vice, I’m sure she cheated somehow.

We’re in Orlando! Wren Sinclair tells Kendal Grey it’s her moment, so she won’t accompany her to the ring. Kendal makes her way into the arena. Vic Joseph & Booker T are our hosts tonight. Kendal says she’s going to be honest with us: she’s more nervous coming out and talking to the people than she was main eventing on Sunday. She was never good at talking, not even in elementary school. Ever since John Cena chose her to be in Iron Survivor, her life has been crazy. She’s received a lot of opportunities she wasn’t sure she was ready for. Nobody puts more pressure on her than her. Before coming to NXT she was never used to losing. She was dominant in high school wrestling & EVOLVE. Once getting to NXT, she kept coming up short in championship matches. She wasn’t sure if she belonged. This Sunday she got her answer and the title proves it. She might not look like the normal champion. Lola had her designer dresses & was all glammed up, that’s what a champion looks like. That’s not her style. She doesn’t last long in a makeup chair. She won’t be comfortable dressing like a Barbie, she won’t always sound like a champion. She will wrestle like a champion and take the division to a level no one has seen before. She welcomes the target on her back, she thrives in competition. It’s her match, tempo and pace. All the girls will find out that they can’t keep up with Kendal.

Wren Sinclair comes out with a cake! Wren wanted Kendal to have her moment out here because she deserves it. Last week, Kendal’s vision came true and they both walked out of the Bash as champions. A two layer cake for the two champs bringing gold home for the NQCC.

Kelani Jordan comes out and is outraged. She wants the chance she deserves at the NXT Women’s Championship. She didn’t even get a match on the Bash, she was attacked by a lunatic instead. Tatum Paxley attacks Kelani from behind! Wren & Kendal eat the cake while Kelani & Tatum fight off.

We go backstage and see Keanu Carver with a big pole standing over El Hijo del Vikingo! Robert Stone screams for medical as we go to commercial.

Izzi Dame says she would hold all three women’s singles championships in NXT right now if not for circumstances. I mean, same. Zaria comes in to disagree, their conversation is drowned out by music, which we find out is due to Lizzy Rain. The girl’s a one woman rock band, baby! OK, she didn’t say that.

Kelani Jordan yells at Robert Stone, so he gives her a match with Tatum in tonight’s main event. Keanu Carver gets booked against EK Prosper. Not gonna lie, getting Carver in a match instead of Vikingo is quite the downgrade.

NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Vanity Project (Brad Baylor & Ricky Smokes w/Jackson Drake & Myka Lockwood) (c) vs. El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. & Galeno: The advertising for this match left off the “El Hijo de” and just called the guy Dr. Wagner Jr., they at least got it right in the match introductions here. I’m not going to get mad at Booker not being able to tell the Wagners apart since I still have issues with telling Baylor & Smokes apart. Galeno powers Smokes down, Smokes goes for a headlock, that doesn’t work and Galeno shoulderblocks him down. Baylor slips out of a slam and Wagner tags in. Big smack to the back of the head. Wagner superkicks Smokes out of the ring, then he flops onto Smokes & Baylor on the floor! We go to commercial!

We return and Wagner is sent into the corner. He kicks Smokes and tries to make a tag, he finally gets there. Galeno all over Baylor. Faceplant to him, splash in the corner and some strikes. Slam by Galeno, a lot of running the ropes, then a splash gets two. Smokes breaks it up. Baylor gets out of a slam and tags Smokes, Smokes gets tossed into the ring. Wagner tags in, Galeno sends him over his head and Wagner hits a kick in the corner for two. The foot was on the ropes apparently. Smokes with a quick rollup on Wagner, a dropkick Hart Attack gets two. Baylor slips out of a slam attempt. Wagner wins the strike exchange. Enziguri by Wagner. Galeno tags in and hits a reverse suplex for two. Wagner goes up top, he mounts Galeno’s shoulders and splashes Baylor. Baylor runs into a boot. A distraction leads to Wagner taking a cheap shot or two, a reverse DDT/double stomp combo gets three for the Vanity Project.

Winner: The Vanity Project (6:15 shown via pinfall)

BirthRight talks about how Vanity Project doesn’t defend the Tag Team Championship very often. OTM and them get into it, then Sean Legacy appears, then DarkState appears. I’m guessing this leads to some multi-team match to determine a #1 contender, and Stone books a Fatal 4-Way for next week. Romeo Moreno despairs that they’re being left out, Stone tells them to build up their resume. Noam Dar tells him it’s fair and they can do just what Stone asked for.

Mason Rook vs. Jackson Drake (w/The Vanity Project): Jackson tries to stick and move early in the match. The headlock takeover doesn’t work, Rook shoulderblocks Drake down and bodyslams Jackson like he’s a dad for two. Big chop in the corner by Rook. Another big chop sends Drake down for two. Rook stretches Drake, Booker T’s phone goes off at a loud volume. It’s Kam Hendrix, he’s coming back real soon and he’ll go after Mason Rook then. OK. Drake with a hilo to Rook, he slips out of a slam attempt and misses a moonsault. Some splashes in the corner by Rook, then a senton gets two. Drake recovers on the outside alongside his Vanity Project buddies as we go to commercial.

Drake blocks a splash with his knees and hits a Lethal Injection for two. Rook with some chops. Back drop by Rook, then a spinning slam. Cannonball in the corner by Rook. Cover gets two on Drake. Drake slips out of a lift then avoids a sit-down splash. Drake hits a Lion Double Stomp for two. Blue Thunder gets two for Rook. Rook misses in the corner, Drake hits a tornado DDT for two. Headbutt by Rook, a powerbomb is turned into a Code Red by Drake! Drake hits a poison rana, Rook pops up and clotheslines Drake! A sitout powerbomb gets two for Rook! Myka distracts the referee, Smokes & Baylor get dumped outside by Rook, but Drake catches Rook with a backstabber! Myka holds Rook’s leg on the three count!

Winner: Jackson Drake (7:48 shown via pinfall)

Rook takes out his frustrations on Smokes & Baylor after, they get crushed with a cannonball in the corner.

EK Prosper is upset that his match has been changed. Tate Wilder builds him up, saying he can get revenge against Carver for putting him through a table. Prosper heads out of the locker room.

Kali Armstrong asks Robert Stone what she needs to do in order to get an opportunity. She knows she can beat Kendal Grey. Stone tells her that actions speak louder than words. Kail will do that! I can see this going in a direction Stone might not have been suggesting.

Keanu Carver vs. EK Prosper: This Sunday, Keanu Carver sent Hank flying off the stage. Prosper hits some strikes early, Carver drives him into the corner, tries to slam him, but ends up taking Prosper down with punches. Carver works an armbar/facelock, Prosper fights out until getting smacked down. Carver charges over the top rope, Prosper dropkicks him off the apron and then hits a dive! Carver right back up, so he gets tornado DDTed on the floor. Carver rolled back into the ring, Prosper up top, hits the frog splash for two. We go Nonstop NXT!

Prosper with some punches in the corner. Carver slips out, then Germans Prosper across the ring. Carver with some knees to Prosper’s back, then he whips Prosper into the corner. Prosper’s occasional attempts to fight back don’t go too well. Carver with a modified backbreaker. Carver misses something on the mat and Prosper fights back until getting German suplexed again. Carver goes back to the armbar/facelock he was using earlier.

We go back full screen. Prosper gets to his feet and gets kneed. Hard shot to the back by Carver. Prosper with some kicks before getting clotheslined. Carver beals Prosper out of the corner and goes back to his hold. Carver smacks Prosper down to the mat, Prosper reverses a slam into a Stunner. Kick, then a running clothesline by Prosper. Prosper up top, hits a Ruff Ryder off the top rope! Carver gets kicked out of the ring, Prosper goes for the dive and gets smacked down to the floor. Carver drops Prosper onto the announce table, then Tank shows up and sends Carver through an LED board! The referee’s back was turned during that, so he counts Carver until nine. Running kick by Prosper, then a moonsault gets three!

Winner: EK Prosper (10:10 via pinfall)

Tank applauds Prosper while Carver looks mad.

Kendal says she can give Kali a title match if she wants one. Stone says he’s booked a Fatal 4-way for #1 contender to the Women’s North American title next week. Nattie leads Karmen Petrovic, Nikkita Lyons & Layla Diggs into the office and talks about how she & her girls earn things. Nattie wants a title match against Kendal, and Stone makes the match for next week. Some Kali erasure here by the GM, what gives? Sure seems like some people in the women’s division have no problem getting title shots while folks like Kali & Kelani can’t get the time of day. It’s strange.

Jaida Parker vs. Karmen Petrovic (w/Nattie, Nikkita Lyons & Layla Diggs): Karmen has groups backing her up in AAA & NXT, good for her! Parker powers Karmen into the corner, then hits a drop toe hold into a headlock. Kick by Karmen, Jaida catches her and hits a backbreaker. Jaida with a strike in the corner, then she drops her to the mat. Karmen ducks outside with her group, Jaida yells at her and gets tripped on the apron. Karmen punches Jaida in the corner, then stomps her down in another corner. Running clothesline to Jaida. Karmen mocks Jaida before getting smacked, but responds with some Sole Food for two. Jaida catches Karmen on a kick and elbows her. Jaida takes Karmen down into the Rings of Saturn, but she’s right by the ropes. Jaida hits a baseball slide dropkick on Karmen, but Karmen distracts the referee. Nattie hits a couple of cheap shots on Jaida with Nikkita’s, but Layla doesn’t do the same and rolls Jaida back into the ring instead. Interesting. Back in the ring, Jaida with a clothesline and a gourd buster, then a hip strike. Jaida hits the Déjà vu powerbomb for three!

Winner: Jaida Parker (4:47 via pinfall)

Tatum Paxley talks to Shiloh Hill about how she’ll beat Kelani tonight, and was surprised with Shiloh at the Bash. Shiloh says he hides his aggression most of the time. Niko Vance tells Shiloh that the Culling made the right move getting rid of Tatum & Shawn Spears. They’ll pick off the weak Superstars one by one. Shiloh doesn’t appreciate him talking about Tatum like that. No physical altercation there, but I feel like that was probably a warning shot from Vance.

Tony D’Angelo is WALKING! We’ll hear from him next!

Dorian Van Dux is in the locker room, and Sean Legacy tells him about the Fatal 4-Way next week for a Tag Team title shot that they’ll be in. Dorian is apparently just bad at direction.

Wren congratulates Myles Bourne for his win on Sunday, and Tavion Heights shows up so Wren walks off. Tavion puts over Tank for having Hank’s back against Keanu Carver, and suggests that their friendship should be just as tight as Hank & Tank’s no matter what. Myles agrees!

Tony D’Angelo makes his way to the ring. He talks about taking things for granted, like waking up and seeing every moment of every day. Last week he was wondering if he’d ever see out of his eye again. He had to sign a bunch of waivers to make sure he could compete on Sunday. He paused before signing the last document, wondering if he was willing to risk his health to defend the NXT Championship. He showed up at the Bash with blind rage, never letting up. His eye will make a full recovery. We’ve seen what he’ll do to retain that championship. There’s not a man in the locker room willing to swim in the deep waters and do what it takes to take the title from him.

Kendal Grey’s music hits and she walks down to ringside after fist-bumping Tony. After that, Tony gets attacked from behind by Naraku with a chair. Tony gets dropped on the chair in the ring, and referees appear to check on Tony as we go to commercial.

We see a replay, and it turns out that Tony was misted backstage by Naraku. So that explains the red liquid coming out of Naraku’s mouth, I thought the poor guy bit his tongue for a minute.

Next Week: Fatal 4-Way matches to determine #1 contenders for the Tag Team & Women’s North American Championships! Kendal Grey vs. Nattie! Kendal remembers growing up and watching Nattie on Total Divas! She obviously knows how crazy the girl is then.

Kelani Jordan vs. Tatum Paxley: Kendal is on commentary with Vic & Booker because she needs to learn how to talk. I get the feeling that point’s been emphasized by her coaches. They tieup around the ring, no one with a clear advantage. Tatum with an arm drag. Kelani responds by smashing her head into the turnbuckle, then kneeing her to the mat. Kelani hits a crossbody to a seated Tatum for two. Tatum with a headlock, she then flips Kelani over into a crossface type move. Kelani gets out, gets some brief offense before getting dropkicked out of the ring. Kelani pulls Tatum to the floor, but misses the Asai moonsault! Kelani handstands on the apron and gets kicked by Tatum. We go to Nonstop NXT!

When that happens, Kali Armstrong attacks Kendal at the announce position! Kelani goes after Tatum’s knee after Tatum misses a move in the corner and stomps away. KneeDT by Kelani. She stretches Tatum’s knee on the bottom rope. Tatum fights back, they trade near-falls before Kelani kicks Tatum’s leg out of her leg. Kelani hits another KneeDT and kicks Tatum to the floor after stretching the knee some more.

My Spectrum goes out for a minute as we return to full screen action. Been a tough week for that. Once I return, we see replays of Kali attacking Kendal and some of what Kelani did to Tatum. Tatum & Kelani exchange strikes. Tatum kicks Kendal down, then hits some clotheslines. German suplex by Tatum. Tatum hits a stepup enziguri to Kelani, then a flipping legdrop gets two. Tatum goes up top, Kelani avoids the 450, misses a crossbody off the top. Slingshot suplex and a modified driver get two for Tatum. Tatum applies a submission hold to Kelani, stretching her out. Kelani gets out and stomps away on Tatum’s ankle. Kelani & Tatum roll into nearfalls before Kelani gets dumped outside. Tatum gets taken down, Kelani goes up top and Tatum kicks her. Tatum gets caught up on the top rope, but manages to get out. Kelani misses a cutter and gets kicked. Cemetery Drive is avoided, Kelani avoids some kicks, hits a spinning rack driver. It goes better on the second attempt, then Kelani hits a split legged moonsault for three.

Winner: Kelani Jordan (11:54 seen via pinfall)

We have a newcomer! She attacks Tatum from behind and racks her into oblivion. Vic asks what force of nature or act of God will stop this woman in NXT! Looks like I’ll need Google for the full review. That’s the end of our show, so long for now!
