Kazuchika Okada held on to his AEW International Championship despite being taken to the edge by Tommaso Ciampa at All Out: Chicago.

The initial stages of the match saw both wrestlers avoid each other’s moves and engage in an attritional battle. Later, Ciampa looked to have gained the advantage when he connected with a knee strike on the apron. However, distraction from Don Callis allowed Okada to recover and wrestle back the initiative.

Okada hit Ciampa with a DDT at ringside in front of the latter’s family and then flipped off Tommaso’s daughter, only for her to respond with a double bird. Later in the match, Okada attempted to strike Ciampa with a screwdriver as Don Callis distracted the referee, but Ciampa stopped him. Ciampa then countered a Rainmaker attempt with a knee strike for a near fall.

The closing moments of the bout saw Ciampa attempt a Rainmaker of his own. However, Okada dodged it and then responded with a Dropkick. Okada ultimately hit the Emerald Flowsion and The Rainmaker to secure the pinfall and retain the AEW International Championship.

Okada’s reign currently stands at 28 days. He captured the championship by winning a three-way match against Konosuke Takeshita and Kyle Fletcher at All In: London.
