Kevin Nash Recalls Using Doors Lyric to Try & Recruit Sting Into the nWo

On the latest episode of Kliq This, Kevin Nash recalled the unusual way he once pitched Sting on joining the nWo during a Nitro — with a lyric from The Doors. Nash recalled how he used the band’s “Break On Through (to the Other Side)” in his pitch and it made Sting look the band up, as he was unfamiliar with theem.
It’s worth noting that Sting never actually joined the original black-and-white nWo. He eventually aligned with Nash’s red-and-black nWo Wolfpac spinoff in 1998, which was the closest he came. You can check out some highlights below:
On Trying to Convince Sting to Join the nWo:
“I told Sting one time at Nitro, we were trying to get him to join us, and I said, ‘If you don’t mind me quoting the great American poet Jim Morrison’ — I said, ‘Why don’t you do what’s right and break on through to the other side?'”
On Sting’s Response:
“Steve didn’t know the reference, so he watched it back. Because he wasn’t a Doors guy. And he watched it back, did the research, and was like, ‘Whoa.’ Like, he knew who the [Doors were], but he didn’t know their body of work.”
