Lance Anoa’i recently suffered a setback when he was released from his WWE contract without having wrestled a single match during his entire stint. He had signed with the company during the summer of 2024, but injury issues meant that it didn’t go as both parties would have envisaged.
However, the setback is fueling Lance to try something different and provide for his family. He recently appeared at the Power Slap Combine and was asked about his decision regarding the same during an interaction with Slap News. He said:
“Honestly, it really is. I recently got released with the WWE. I’m a professional wrestler for 15 years. I had a few surgeries that held me back. But man, yeah, it’s fueling me to be better and provide for my family, my wife, my kids. Man, just wanna go out and try something different, and, man, let’s do it.”
When asked if his abrupt departure from WWE motivated him to try Power Slap, Lance Anoa’i said:
“Man, honestly, it was a tough decision whether or not to come, man. I used to get smacked as a kid, man, [and] didn’t get paid for it. Now, let me try to do it now and get paid and try to knock somebody out, man.”
