Matt Hardy Weighs in on TNA Pulling Talent From Indie Matches vs. AEW Stars, Reveals Carlos Silva Compensated Wrestlers

Matt Hardy recently shared his thoughts on TNA Wrestling pulling its contracted talent from matches against AEW wrestlers at indie events. Earlier this month, TNA pulled several wrestlers, including Leon Slater, Moose, and Nic Nemeth, from their scheduled matches at independent events. Slater was supposed to take on Ricochet at WrestleCon Supershow during WrestleMania 42 weekend.
Meanwhile, Nemeth was set to go one-on-one with former AEW World Champion MJF at Create-A-Pro Wrestling’s show, “Monumental Moment,” on May 1. TNA President Carlos Silva later cited “partner conflicts” as the reason behind the move.
Matt Hardy appeared on The Ariel Helwani Show this week. After admitting that Silva “stepped in” with that decision, he gave his take on the situation. Hardy said that since TNA is in a working relationship with WWE and AEW is a rival promotion, matches between TNA’s and AEW’s talents should never have been booked in the first place.
The veteran also revealed that Carlos Silva compensated the talents he pulled from their respective matches. Below are the highlights:
Matt Hardy on TNA Pulling Wrestlers From Their Scheduled Matches Against AEW Stars
“In my honest opinion, if we are partners with WWE, and WWE has laid it out that ‘we’re working together with TNA,’ and AEW has its own entity, we probably, from that point on, should’ve said, ‘If you’re doing indie booking, we probably shouldn’t do TNA-AEW.’ That would’ve been my guess. These things happen. I think in these finishes they had, things are going to work for both parties. It probably should’ve never been set from the beginning. Going forward, that would be the case now. They were set, and things were there. If these things could’ve happened and all parties could’ve been happy, it would’ve been great if it could’ve connected, especially because it was advertised, but what should’ve happened, most likely, is that because we’re partners with WWE, and AEW is its own entity that is a competing force, these matches probably shouldn’t have ever been cleared.”
Hardy Reveals Carlos Silva Compensated the Talent involved.
“The thing I can tell you is the guys who he pulled out of those matches, he compensated them and paid them their full fee. I know he talked to Mike at Highspots and compensated him for the plane ticket and everything else. He did everything he could to try and make it right.”
Recently, Carlos Silva responded to the criticism he has garnered since pulling TNA wrestlers from their scheduled matches against AEW talent. You can check out his comments RIGHT HERE.
