Maxxine Dupri Responds To WWE: Unreal Criticism, Says Viewers Can Simply ‘Hit Next’

Maxxine Dupri has weighed in on the criticism surrounding WWE: Unreal, saying fans who dislike the show’s backstage access can simply stop watching. The WWE star also explained why she enjoys seeing that side of the business.

Season 3 of WWE: Unreal was released on July 21. The series continues to follow WWE talent and production as the company moves through its schedule. The latest season focuses on John Cena’s retirement and farewell tour and how the creative team continues to build the storylines from SummerSlam to WrestleMania 42.

While many have applauded the behind-the-scenes takes, there has been an ongoing discussion about how much backstage material should be shown to wrestling fans.

Speaking to WittyWhittier, Dupri defended the Netflix series and explained why she enjoys seeing WWE’s work outside the ring. She also pushed back on the idea that WWE: Unreal gives viewers access to everything happening backstage. Dupri stated:

“I fell in love with this from Total Divas, so I’m always going to stand 10 toes down with anything that shows that other side of our business because I personally just really enjoy that. And I think the thing to keep in mind with Unreal is, like, they’re filming all year. So, there’s hours and hours and hours of footage for these six episodes, right? So, it’s like even though people think, ‘Oh my gosh, we’re seeing too much,’ or this and that, like you’re still just getting a little taste.”

She later described WWE: Unreal as “an incredible show” and told critics they could simply “hit next” if they did not enjoy it. She commented:

 At the end of the day, I don’t know why everyone’s up in arms. If you don’t want to watch something, don’t watch it. Do you have no willpower? No self-discipline? Like, my goodness, it’s crazy. I think it’s an incredible show. And if you don’t like it, hit next.”
