More Details on WWE Interest in Richard Holliday

Indie star Richard Holliday, the NWA Midwest Heavyweight Champion, has been talked about recently as a possible WWE signee. Fightful Select previously mentioned Holliday is expected to sign a deal soon

Now they’ve added more details to the initial report. Today’s Fightful Select “Update and Debunkathon” gets specific: “it should be noted that we can only confirm internal interest from the company. One source had indicated they expected him to be signed. He’s been playing it up on social media to an almost suspicious level.”

On Halliday’s X feed, he and Ben Bishop have been interacting with Matt Cardona, and Holliday recently posted a video of himself asking Zilla Fatu if he could be an “Uce.” Those aren’t necessarily giveaways, but WWE could out the kibosh on Cardona’s involvement if they wanted to.

Fightful also notes that Holliday wasn’t at the Boston TNA tapings where many expected him to be.

Holliday trained under Paul Roma, and is best known for his MLW stint, where he teamed with MJF to feud with Teddy Hart and his Foundation. He has been wrestling on the independent circuit for more than a decade. His merchandise strategy appears to be similar to Matt Cardona’s from the Indy God days.

Or at least, he wants us to think so.
