Myles Borne says that Randy Orton has been a great friend and mentor to him, including after he had back surgery done. Borne has oft been compared to Orton during his time in WWE NXT, where he is currently the NXT North American Champion. Borne spoke with Complex Graps for a new interview and discussed his relationship with the Viper.
Borne noted that Orton gave him advice after he had a similar back surgery to what Orton received and that Orton really cares about helping the next generation. You can see highlights below:
On His Friendship With Orton:
“Oh, I mean the Viper’s cool, man. Randy, he’s been a great friend, a great mentor that I can reach out to at any time, any time of the day, anytime at night to ask for advice. And he’s a genuine guy. I mean, he really — with all the years that he’s put into this business, he really wants to help out the next and up and coming generations.
“And I really see that when I’m talking to him. Like, he’s passionate about this. So me and him have a good relationship, man. It’s — he’s a cool guy. I was a big fan of him, so the fact that — you know, being someone who looked up to that, now being able to grab my phone and ask him a question when I have one is like, it’s crazy to me. Nut yeah, the relationship’s great.
He’s a great friend, offers great advice. He really takes pride in what he does and he takes pride in the business. And I can tell that he has a lot of respect for it.”
On Orton Giving Him Advice After He Had Back Surgery:
“He also has a lot of respect for taking care of yourself, being healthy. And that’s one thing that he’s been very keen on with me, is my health. We both had the same back surgery, and that was one thing that we had in common. And he was immediately, ‘Hey, go to this website, get yourself one of these support pillows when you’re traveling.’ He’s done all this for a long time, and now he’s trying to give me the edge to where I maybe can have an advantage later on, where I can avoid some of the injuries and and aches that he has. So, it’s been great. It’s a blessing being able to have someone [of] his caliber, with his experience, be able to offer me advice not just in the ring but also like in recovery and outside the ring.”
