WWE Superstar Oba Femi recently reflected on Brock Lesnar giving him his stamp of approval following the Hell in a Cell match at SummerSlam: Minnesota Night One, revealing that no one saw it coming.

The four-month rivalry of Brock Lesnar and Oba Femi culminated with The Ruler slaying The Beast inside Hell in a Cell at last month’s SummerSlam. Brock initially left the ring after the match, only to return and hug Femi before grabbing a microphone and officially passing the baton to Oba.

Femi was visibly taken aback by Brock’s gesture, and during a recent conversation with ABC 33/40, he revealed that not just him, but everyone involved, was surprised by the post-match segment.

Here’s what Oba Femi said:

On Brock Lesnar endorsing him at SummerSlam

“I remember him; I see him on his wide back walking away. I’m like, ‘Wow, that was tough!’ And then I see him spin the block. I’m like, ‘Oh, man! What’s going on? What do we have now?’ And then he walks back, and I’m on guard. I’m like, ‘Oh, it could be anything,’ and then he comes in and it’s this big endorsement, very out of character for him, and it’s a huge moment. So, I’m happy that he trusted enough in his choice to even come back and not just implicitly tell them through the match, but explicitly say, ‘This is our guy!’”

On whether he saw it coming

“Nobody saw it coming. The camera guys, everybody was taken aback. Everybody was surprised that in the 25-year career of Brock Lesnar, he’s never done anything like that.”

As it turned out, Brock announced his retirement from pro wrestling a few days later. Meanwhile, Femi is currently on a collision course with Bron Breakker over who’s WWE’s rightful future. The two powerhouses will battle at Sunday Night’s Main Event on September 6.
