Raquel Rodriguez says that it was a “dream come true” to capture the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Championship. Rodriguez defeated Sol Ruca on the July 27th episode of WWE Raw to capture the title, her first singles reign on the main roster.

Rodriguez recently spoke with the Mixed Tag Wrestling Podcast for ESPN Houston promoting Survivor Series: WarGames taking place in the city. She spoke about what it felt like to win the title and more. You can see the highlights below:

On Her Women’s Intercontinental Title Win:

“Oh, it did, it felt so good. And you can tell from just the pure joy. When I watch it back, just the pure joy I had at the end of that match. That battle against Sol Ruca with the blood on my face, finally getting my hands on the Intercontinental Title. It was just a dream come true, for sure.”

On Representing Where She’s From In WWE:

“Oh, it means a lot to me. It means so much, because I wouldn’t be who I am without the people and the culture and the area that I came from. You know, all of those things, the [area code] 956, the Valley, being born in Houston and then growing up in the valley. I feel like all of those things just made me who I am today. They made my family. They made the people around me.

“So, I think it was just all divine destiny that all of these things were meant to make this amazing, beautiful Raquel Rodriguez that holds your Intercontinental Title, and that we’ll be coming back to Houston in November. I feel like it’s just so important to me to represent the culture, to represent my people. And to keep giving people a chance to believe that you can do more and you can get out of that little box that people put you in.”
