Rey Mysterio Reveals Details of His Injury & Recovery Status

WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio recently revealed the exact nature of his most recent injury. The former WWE World Champion had fans worried during his match against Austin Theory on the January 26, 2026, episode of Monday Night RAW when he started clutching his arms, leading to the referee throwing out the dreaded ‘X’ sign to seek medical assistance.

Rey wasn’t involved in the post-match angle featuring The Vision, Penta, and Dragon Lee, and it was later reported that he had suffered a minor rib injury. The injury does not seem to be minor, though, as Rey Mysterio told Adrian Hernandez in a recent interview that he fractured both his ribs during the match and is currently on the road to recovery.

“Much better than when it actually happened. That injury occurred on January 27 [26], which was the Monday leading into the Rumble, fractured ribs both left and right, so those take a little bit of time to heal, but on the way up,” Rey revealed.

Despite the injury, Mysterio competed in the Men’s Royal Rumble match in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, later that week. However, he has yet to compete since then. 411Mania wishes WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio a speedy recovery.
