Former WWE Superstar and UFC fighter Ronda Rousey has her next project lined up. Deadline reports that Rousey will executive produce a new MMA-themed drama feature titled Brawlers.
Harold Perrineau (From, Lost) is set to lead the gritty MMA drama. Story details are reportedly being kept under wraps, but the project is said to be set against the backdrop of LA’s amateur MMA scene.
Jonathan Fernandez is directing the show from his own script in his feature directorial debut. Andrew Carlberg and Jackie Carr are attached to produce the feature. Additionally, the report notes that the project has been awarded a California tax incentive, and it will shoot on location in Los Angeles.
Ronda Rousey was previously working on a Netflix biopic about her life, which she self-penned. Deadline reports that the status of the project is “unclear.”
Earlier in May, Rousey made a return to MMA, facing sports trailblazer Gina Carano. Rousey won the fight less than twenty seconds into the first round.
