Seth Rollins’ injury at WWE Crown Jewel: Perth didn’t just sideline one of WWE’s biggest stars. It also forced the company to scrap its creative plans for the rest of 2025 and start over.
New details revealed in WWE: Unreal Season 3 show just how much Rollins’ shoulder injury changed WWE’s direction behind the scenes. The injury happened during Rollins’ WWE Crown Jewel Championship match against Cody Rhodes. Rollins attempted a coast-to-coast headbutt, but immediately realized something was wrong with his shoulder after hitting the move.
As shown in the series, WWE’s creative team responded by wiping its whiteboard of plans clean and rebuilding its stories from scratch. On the RAW after Crown Jewel, Rollins was pulled from television following an attack from the Vision and had to give up the World Heavyweight Championship the next week, ending the title reign and momentum he had built throughout 2025. His absence lasted until Elimination Chamber 2026, where he finally returned after several months away.
WWE: Unreal also featured Triple H recalling the moments immediately after the match. As Triple H entered the ring to present Rollins with the championship, he asked how serious the injury was (via Fightful).
“I remember getting in the ring to put the title on him, I looked at him and said, ‘how bad is it?’ he said, ‘I’m f**ked’.”
With Rollins out of action, WWE reworked its main event plans, reshaped the World Heavyweight Championship picture, and adjusted the direction of The Vision storyline. Austin Theory and Logan Paul joined the faction while CM Punk became the new World Heavyweight Champion after winning the vacant title at Saturday Night’s Main Event XLI.
