AEW star Shelton Benjamin has cleared up fan concerns after he seemingly looked emotional during his entrance ahead of his match with Jon Moxley on last night’s Dynamite.

The Gold Standard was scheduled to battle Jon Moxley in a Continental Championship Eliminator contest last night. The match was set up after Benjamin came out to confront the Continental Champion following his victory over Josh Alexander last Wednesday.

Following his seemingly emotional entrance last night, fans took to social media to express their concern about the same. However, Shelton Benjamin has since cleared the air, clarifying on X that it was water and not tears that ran down his face during his entrance.

“Thanks for the concern, fans; you are greatly appreciated, but I don’t do emotional; I hurt Hurt people. However, before I enter an arena, I do pour water on my head that tends to drip,” he wrote.

As far as the match is concerned, Shelton Benjamin brought the fight to Jon Moxley, but the Death Riders leader eventually came away with a win, as he converted a triangle choke attempt into a pin just before the clock reached the 20-minute time limit.

Benjamin is best known for his run with Charlie Haas as the World’s Greatest Tag Team. He’s a former WWE Intercontinental Champion, having held the Intercontinental Title three times. He has victories over the likes of Ric Flair, Chris Jericho and Triple H. He also had a memorable run in New Japan Pro Wrestling.
