Sonya Deville Arrested in February for Alleged Firearm Possession

– TMZ reports that WWE Superstar Sonya Deville (aka Daria Berenato) was arrested last month (Feb. 19) in Atlantic City, New Jersey for possession of a firearm without a proper New Jersey permit. Court documents indicate that authorities allegedly found a firearm in her vehicle that did not have the correct New Jersey permit.

The incident occurred when a valet reportedly discovered a weapon that was allegedly in Deville’s glove box and then called the authorities. Police then arrived on the scene, and Berenato was arrested a short time later. She was reportedly charged with one count of unlawful weapon possession, a handgun without a permit.

TMZ also reports that Deville has had the weapon for personal protection since a stalker attempted to break into her home and abduct her in August 2020. The gun is reportedly registered to her in Florida but not New Jersey.

Sonya Deville is due for a court hearing on the matter later this month. Deville and WWE have not yet commented on the incident. PWInsider is reporting that Deville does not currently have heat within management over the arrest. As noted, she recently announced her engagement to girlfriend Toni Cassano.
