Stephanie Vaquer has confirmed in a new interview that she had surgery during her hiatus from WWE television. The former (and once again current) Women’s World Champion was away from the ring from her title loss to Liv Morgan at WrestleMania 42 until returning on the post-SummerSlam episode of WWE Raw in early August.
Vaquer spoke with Yael Rueda of Rueda en el Ring for a new interview after she captured the title at a live event in Chile over the weekend. In the interview, Vaquer acknowledges that she had surgery and it meant that she had to be out of the ring without training for a bit.
“It was difficult,” Vaquer said (translation via (PWInsider). “It was very difficult because coming out of surgery and having to wait without training, I think that was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do in my life.”
She continued, “Not being active in my training, but I returned to the ring, and stepping into the ring for me felt like coming back to life. It was a necessary break for the sake of my health, but I returned better than ever and I’m going to keep going just as always—disciplined in my training and showing what I’m made of.”
Vaquer teamed with El Grande Americano on last night’s WWE Raw against Morgan and Dominik Mysterio, but the match ended in a DQ after the Judgment Day interfered.
