During a recent interview with Going Ringside, former WWE Superstar The Boogeyman shared some details about his famous WrestleMania 23 segment involving then-future WWE President Donald Trump. According to The Boogeyman, part of the segment was changed and cut, as the then future-United States President and WWE Hall of Famer didn’t want to show fear for his character.

Speaking on his segment with Trump, The Boogeyman stated, “Well, he and Vince are friends, as you know. But I got to tell you in that segment, when I come up from behind the couch and he had also Miss America there as well, and she ran off. But then Donald, Mr. Trump, President Trump as he is, he didn’t want to be frightened. So, he’s talking about how this place is a circus. True enough it is, but he didn’t want to sell my character.”

The Boogeyman continued, “He didn’t want to sell my character. So, he said, ‘Go make me a sandwich.’ And he, you know, and you see me walk off screen, but then I came back, and I grabbed him by the collar, and I said, ‘How about a worm sandwich?’ They cut that.” When Scott Johnson asked why the WWE cut that part out, Boogeyman answered, “They cut it because he did not want to show fear. He didn’t want to look scared of me. He didn’t want to show that he was frightened.”

Boogeyman explained that he actually got heat over the segment over Trump not wanting to fear his character. He stated, “I grabbed him, and I came back because Vince [McMahon] wants this character to be The Boogeyman. You know, and in all actuality, I got somewhat in trouble for that or heat for it because I allowed him [Trump] to not show the show fearness, which almost kills the character. Do you understand?”

The wrestler went on, “That’s how it went. But I was very fortunate. I can say that I actually met the president before he was president. … So, Donald Trump knows The Boogeyman.”

Donald Trump took part in WrestleMania 23 for the Battle of the Billionaires match, featuring Bobby Lashley, representing Trump, and the late Umaga, representing Vince McMahon. As a result of Umaga losing the match, McMahon was forced to shave his head.
