The Rock Confirms That He Wears Prescription Glasses

The Rock has confirmed that the glasses he tends to wear are prescribed and not just for show. The WWE star and actor wore sunglasses as part of his trademark look when he was a regular performer in WWE. These days he’s switched out the shades for glasses that he has to wear, as he revealed in an interview for Rotten Tomatoes promoting the live-action Moana alongside co-star Catherine Laga’aia.
During the interview, Laga’aia was asked what the “most Dwayne Johnson” thing that she saw Rock do on set. She noted, “Maybe it’s the sunglasses. I feel like they made an appearance even with Maui, even in a sound stage. Where it’s like, they’re still on and I was like, ‘At this point, just leave them.’ I feel like if Dwayne has them then Maui probably does too.”
Rock chuckled and replied: “By the way, for context, these are prescription glasses.” He took them off briefly and said, “Now I can’t see anything. So they were prescription on set.”
Rock continued, “No dude, I’m not the asshole who wears [sun]glasses inside. No, they’re scripts. And so that’s how — by the way, every time we would read our lines, I would say, ‘Give me my glasses,’ and I’d put them on. Now, they happen to have some tint to them, so it makes me look like, ‘Oh, look at this f**kin’ guy.’”
Moana opens in theaters on July 10th. No word on when we’ll next see the Final Boss on WWE TV.
