Adam’s Apple NYC recently caught up with AEW President and CEO Tony Khan, asking him about what’s next for Chris Jericho. Khan noted that he’d love it if Chris Jericho had his final match in AEW.
Regarding Jericho, Khan stated (h/t Fightful), “I would say that absolutely, I’d love it if Chris’ final match is eventually … whenever Chris someday would want to hang it up, here in AEW, but I also don’t think Chris is really near that point.”
During a recent interview on The Ariel Helwani Show, Tony Khan also commented on wanting to see Chris Jericho back in AEW, “I hope so. I absolutely hope we’ll get Chris back in. A star like Chris Jericho, you negotiate a certain number of dates.” He also said on Jericho, “I love having Chris in AEW, and he’s always welcome. The door is always open for Chris to come in.”
Jericho’s next move remains to be seen. His AEW is reportedly up at the end of the year. It was also rumored that several global and national companies are interested in him, including WWE.
Also, a WWE source informed Fightful Select that Jericho would likely be offered “several million dollars” a year in order to return to the promotion, with the same source believing AEW could also match such an offer. However, Jericho’s current motivations for wrestling are unknown.
Chris Jericho also recently raised some eyebrows, commenting on TNA Bound for Glory, saying the event had a “WWE-level crowd,” adding that “TNA looked like the second biggest company in the world.”
