Trick Williams Reflects On Feud With Sami Zayn, Names US Title Win As Main Roster Highlight

Trick Williams recently gave Sami Zayn some respect when talking about their feud and beating him for the WWE United States Title at WrestleMania. Williams beat Zayn for the Championship on night two of WrestleMania for his first championship on the main roster, a quick ascent for someone who debuted on Smackdown just a few months earlier.

Williams spoke with Ring Rust Radio and spoke about his win, naming it as his main roster highlight so far. He also spoke about his feud with Zayn and called the latter a future Hall of Famer, while pointing out what the win meant for him. You can see highlights below:

On His Main Roster Highlight So Far:

“Yeah on the main roster, if you’re talking about on the show, definitely has been winning that United States Championship. Man, it was just a beautiful moment. You know, just think about how fast your life can change at that point. Four months on the main roster, winning a WrestleMania match against a future Hall of Famer.

“And let’s talk about the Gingerbread Man for a second. I mean, that was no easy feat. So, to be able to have that magical moment at WrestleMania, I don’t take it for granted.”

On His Rivalry With Zayn:

I mean, that just lets you know one, how great of an opponent he was and everything that he brings to the business. You know, he’s Sami Zayn for a reason. So you’ve got to put some respect on his name.

“But it also tells you who Trick Williams is. In his first feud — you know, in his first day on Smackdown, he interrupted Sami Zayn and told him, ‘You will respect Mr. Lemon Pepper Stepper.’ And the people was all in line, and they knew that I wasn’t lying. So, it was just a beautiful situation. Me and Sam are so polar opposites. So it just worked.”
