Update on Drew McIntyre’s WWE Status

Drew McIntyre hasn’t been seen for a while on WWE TV. Not since WrestleMania 42, in fact, where he lost to Jacob Fatu. It’s pretty widely known that he has been working in other projects, but PWInsider reports that he was seen at WWE HQ in Stamford, Connecticut, this week.
The Scottish Psychopath has been working on movies over the last year. He’ll be playing Angus MacLeod in the new Highlander, a relative of Henry Cavill’s Connor. Dave Bautista is also in the film, as the villainous Kurgan (not to be confused with the former WWE giant who borrowed the name), with Russell Crowe playing mentor Ramirez.
McIntyre will also be paired with Crowe in The Last Druid, about a stronghold of peaceful Celtic warriors who must take a final stand against an invading emperor.
Reportedly the reason he was in Connecticut was to promote WWE’s new foray into micro-dramas, also known as verticals — he’ll be working with former foe Fatu and Joe Hendry. They wrapped filming on it not long ago.
He recently shared a video of himself getting back into ring shape, though it’s anyone’s guess when he’ll return, for now. Then again, psychology has always been a big part of his game, so expect him to surprise us when he does come back.
