WWE is putting a bit of focus on their tag team division as of late, with a new report giving an update on the company’s plans for the division. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, sources have indiciated that WWE is going to focus (or refocus) on some different teams in the divisions.
On the Smackdown side, the MFTs hold the WWE Tag Team Championships, capturing them on last week’s show. The report notes that in addition to the arrival of Nakamura and the incoming Hiromu Takahashi (as teased last week), Fraxiom is set to see increaed TV time. The duo of Axiom and Nathan Frazer have been a staple of the Smackdown tag team division, though they have yet to hold the brand’s tag titles.
Meanwhile, the World Tag Team Championships are currently held by The Vision on WWE Raw. According to a source, there has been an “internal debate” around finding challengers for them. The Street Profits have been off of TV due to Montez Ford and Bianca Belair’s son being born, and Los Americanos are being kept off TV until at least after TripleMania. There has been discussion of elevating the alliance of Ethan Page and Rusev, though some in the company don’t wait them “getting lost” in the tag team division.
The Creed Brothers have been back on TV via WWE Main Event, but they have reportedly not been mentioned in internally in terms of possible challengers for the titles.
