Backstage Update on CM Punk’s Status with WWE Amid Return Rumors, Future Plans Involving Cody Rhodes

There’s been a good amount of speculation on the status of CM Punk over the past few months since his last appearance on WWE Raw the night after WrestleMania 42. Most of this speculation has already been debunked, but the idea of CM Punk & WWE not having issues with each other is always going to be something that a certain portion of wrestling fans are going to run with.

TRNBCKL posted an update this morning on CM Punk’s status with WWE, saying that everything regarding the relationship with the Second City Saint and the company is just fine and there has been no backstage heat. Suggestions Punk was asked to take a pay cut seem unfounded as TRNBCKL states that WWE “knows CM Punk’s worth and what he brings to the table as a main event player.” His status as one of the top names in the company is not expected to change.

The report goes on to say that Punk was happy to drop the World Championship to Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, and Reigns was always planned to win a championship in the main event. As for Punk vs. Cody Rhodes, TRNBCKL says that match has been planned to take place for a while, and the only question is “when and where”.

WWE Raw takes place tonight in Punk’s backyard of Chicago and will stream on Netflix at 8 PM Eastern. 411 will have live coverage whether or not “Cult of Personality” plays.
