Update on Steven Borden Following Injury at AEW All Out

Steven Borden’s AEW PPV in-ring debut didn’t pan out as he would have expected, as he and Darby Allin lost the tag team match against Kyle Fletcher and Kevin Knight via referee stoppage at AEW All Out in Chicago. The referee ultimately stopped the match after deeming Borden unfit to continue after he collided mid-air with Kevin Knight and landed back-first, hitting his head against the mat.
Later during the AEW All Out broadcast, the commentary team provided an update on Borden’s condition. Tony Schiavone noted that Tony Khan provided them with an update on Borden, saying that he is conscious and responsive, and that he was taken to a hospital for evaluation. A bit later, Schiavone added that Borden had underwent a CATScan and remembered the match he was in.
Chris Nowinski, the former WWE star who has become an authority on concussions, said on X that Borden looked to have suffered a concussion.
Hoping for the best for Steve Borden after this #concussion with loss of consciousness and fencing.
Referee @dabryceisright, who is deeply committed to the role he plays in wrestler safety, recognized it right away and got @DocSampson13 in the ring. pic.twitter.com/c6CL5L9TXm— Chris Nowinski, Ph.D. (@ChrisNowinski1) September 27, 2026
