The United States Embassy & Consulates in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia issued a new security alert yesterday (Oct. 7), warning U.S. citizens to “exercise heightened vigilance” amid the ongoing conflict with Iran. This led to the ongoing security situation in Saudi Arabia and Houthi public threats against airports and airspace across Saudi Arabia.

As previously noted, the U.S. Department of State issued a level three travel advisory for Saudi Arabia last month, advising citizens to reconsider traveling to the country. Some areas of Saudi Arabia are under a level four advisory, which means that U.S. citizens are advised to leave the country. WWE is scheduled to hold the Crown Jewel premium live event in Riyadh on November 7. WrestleMania 43 is also scheduled for the city in April 2027.

The security alert also encourages travelers from the U.S. to “keep a low profile” and “avoid all demonstrations and large gatherings,” along with “areas where there is a heavy police presence.” The alert reads as follows:

“Due to the ongoing security situation in Saudi Arabia and Houthi public threats against airports and airspace across Saudi Arabia, the U.S. Mission reminds all U.S. citizens to exercise heightened vigilance. The Houthis have engaged in hostilities against Saudi Arabia, including against civilian airports, and the military conflict has the potential to escalate. U.S. citizens should be aware of potential flight cancellations, airspace closures, and travel disruptions. We recommend checking your flight departure status directly with the airline and with the airport.

U.S. government employees working in Saudi Arabia are not allowed to travel within 20 miles of the Yemen border due to safety risks and need special authorization to travel to the provinces of Jizan, Asir, Najran, and the cities of Qatif, Yanbu, and Taif.

U.S. citizens are advised to not travel near the Yemen border.

Follow the guidance of national alerts released by Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense.

Operational Status:

Regular and emergency consular services are available for U.S. citizens.”

For now, WWE has yet to announce any changes regarding Crown Jewel in Riyadh amid the security concerns. It was reported late last month that construction was about to begin for the premium live event, with the show taking place at a temporary outdoor venue at Riyadh Seasonal Stadium.

Additionally, WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select reported last month that several people within WWE who regularly travel to the country for their events have been asking internally about any possible changes or rescheduling of Crown Jewel given the ongoing conflict and travel concerns. For now, it appears the event is moving forward as planned in Riyadh.
