Will Ospreay vs. Kazuchika Okada for AEW World Championship Set for Grand Slam: France

Will Ospreay’s next challenger for the AEW World Championship has been revealed.

After retaining the title against Jon Moxley in the main event of All Out: Chicago, Ospreay addressed journalists at the post-show Media Scrum, where he was asked about who he intends to face next.

Ospreay then called for Kazuchika Okada to show up. After The Rainmaker appeared alongside Don Callis, Will called Okada his mentor and expressed his desire to defend the AEW World Championship against him at Grand Slam: France next month. Okada agreed, as did Tony Khan, and that was that.

Here’s what Will Ospreay said:

“That’s an amazing question. I actually saw him outside; he’s about to do the Scrum next. Now that AEW is growing and we are hitting fitter international markets, I think it is very important to show our global audience what a World Champion is all about. I’m going to set a challenge for Grand Slam: Paris. [Refers to Kazuchika Okada and calls for him to come to the Scrum].”

He continued:

“‘Okada, there have been so many years where I’ve looked up to you as an older brother, and you have been an incredible mentor. When I did my entrance at All In, the one person I really wanted to see back there was you, and I didn’t get to see you there. I’ve leveled up, and I’m one of the best professional wrestlers in the world right now. I want you to challenge me for my World Championship on October 6 in Paris. Do you accept?”

Okada: “Of course!”

Okada is coming off a successful defense of his International Championship against Tommaso Ciampa at All Out.
