AEW Reportedly Changed Women’s Tag Title Finish Mid-Match On Dynamite Due to Injury

Penelope Ford suffered an injury in the Women’s Tag Team Title match on AEW Dynamite, which reportedly caused a mid-match change to the finish. Wednesday night’s show saw the Babes Of Wrath defend their titles against Megan Bayne and Ford, aka Megabad. During the match, Ford hit an Asai moonsault onto Willow Nightingale and Harley Cameron, which caused her to be injured and taken out of the match.
Fightful Select has cofirmed that, as is probably obvious, the injury is legitimate. AEW had to call an audible mid-match from the back in order to help cover which resulted in the finish being changed.
It’s not yet clear how extensive the change was or who was originally set to win the match. The report notes that the injury also caused some other immediate changes to the show, though nothing else in a drastic manner. The finish saw the match end in a DQ.
No word as of yet as to the extent of Ford’s injury. Ford made her return from a UCL tear back in January. That particular injury had kept her out for three months.
On behalf of 411, our best wishes to Penelope Ford on a quick and full recovery.
