UPDATED: Did Charlotte Ask For Time Off?

July 28, 2016 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

UPDATE: PWInsider is refuting reports that Charlotte is taking time off in the near future, saying that according to sources Charlotte is scheduled for all her bookings in the near future and that there have been no request made to take time off.

The site says that the title switch was made in order to open the “New Era” of Raw with a big surprise and that with Charlotte’s run establishing the title as legitimate, the company is more open to the possibility of moving the title to push storyliness. Triple H is a big fan of Sasha and since the two were already planning to battle at SummerSlam, the title switch adds heat to the match.

ORIGINAL: According to Wrestling Observer Radio, Charlotte’s dropping the WWE Women’s Title to Sasha Banks may be in order to give the now-former champion some time off in the near future. Both hosts of the show said that they have heard Charlotte asked for some time off, although they haven’t yet confirmed the news. Charlotte lost the championship to Banks on Raw.

It is worth noting, however, that Ric Flair noted on his podcast that a rematch between the two is on the horizon for SummerSlam. Charlotte could still take time off after that, but it does seem as if she will be sticking around at least until the August PPV.
