Chris Robinson Set to Direct Film Based on LeBron James Memoir Shooting Stars

Chris Robinson will direct the film based on LeBron James’ memoir Shooting Stars. Variety reports that Robinson (Fox’s series Star) will direct the Universal film from a script by Juel Taylor and Tony Rettenmaier.

The movie is based on Shooting Stars, co-written by James and Buzz Bissinger. It depicts the events of the NBA star’s life and bond with his friends from Akron, Ohio in Sian Cotton, Willie McGee and Dru “Little Dru” Joyce III. The book tells the story of their friendship and exploits on the basketball court throughout their youth, including their struggles at a parochial school that was overwhelmingly white, and the consequences of their own arrogance.
