Georges St. Pierre Says He Would Return to UFC For Khabib Nurmagomedov Fight

Georges St. Pierre is on board with a UFC return, if he gets a fight with Khabib Nurmagomedov. The celebrated former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion spoke with ESPN for a new interview, which you can see below, and he said that he would be willing to come back for a fight with the reigning UFC Lightweight Champion.

“If the right fight came along, they know where to find me,” St-Pierre told ESPN. “We tried to make the right fight but it didn’t work.”

By “the right fight,” he means Nurmagomedov. GSP has been lobbying for that bout for a while now and the UFC nearly put it together. But St-Pierre told DAZN that he believes the UFC has too much invested in Nurmagomedov, and since St-Pierre wouldn’t be returning full-time, a loss to GSP would potentially hurt the UFC’s business:

“Imagine that they invest a lot of money to promote a big fight between Khabib and I and I win the fight. I’m out. I’m not interested in signing a fight with Khabib and guarantee them that I want to go back and fight another contender.”

Dana White did say last month that he’s interested in Nurmagomedov vs. GSP, though he added that Khabib vs. Tony Ferguson was “the fight that needs to happen.”
