– Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston has the ratings for last night’s edition of AEW Dynamite Beach Break show. The special edition of Dynamite took a big swing to open the show straight into the TNT Championship Ladder Match between reigning champion Cody Rhodes and interim champion Sammy Guevara. It was a gamble that paid off as Dynamite drew an average audience of 1.1 million viewers.

Besides the Ladder Match, this week’s Beach Break episode was headlined by a Lights Out Match featuring Adam Cole vs. Orange Cassidy, plus the long-awaited AEW debut of very nice, very evil Danhausen. CM Punk and MJF also furthered their ongoing feud, setting up a match between the two for next week’s episode of Dynamite in Punk’s hometown of Chicago, Illinois.

AEW Dynamite swung big with last night’s Beach Break show and hit a clear home run. The average audience of 1.1 million viewers tops last week’s average audience, which drew 1.032 million viewers. So, AEW managed to gain about 68,000 viewers this week. This was the highest overall viewership for AEW since September 29.

While the average audience saw an increase this week, the P18-49 key demo rating did see some losses. Dynamite finished with a 0.41 rating, or 530,000 viewers, in the key demo. That’s down from last week’s key demo rating of 0.44, or 570,000 viewers. However, the increase in total viewership did manage to somewhat mitigate drop in key demo viewership.

While last week’s episode of Dynamite did manage to surpass Raw in the key demo ratings, that was not the case this week. Monday Night Raw, which was not going up against the NFL Playoffs this week, finished with a higher key demo rating at 0.46. Raw also increased to 1.766 million viewers this week and topped the cable TV ratings on Monday.

Meanwhile, per Showbuzz Daily, AEW Dynamite fell to No. 2 in the ratings last night, dropping from its No. 1 slot for last week’s show. The NBA game between the Phoenix Suns and the Utah Jazz topped the ratings for cable originals on Wednesday with a 0.43 rating and 1.189 million viewers. The Five on FOX News was No. 1 in overall viewership with 3.782 million viewers.
