Jeff Jarrett On When the ‘Wheels Began To Come Off’ At TNA

On the latest episode of My World With Jeff Jarrett, the WWE Hall of Famer talked about the changes of TNA Wrestling over the years and its success. You can check out some highlights below:
On TNA still surviving: “This sounds so freaking self-serving, but a wise man built a house upon a rock. I just think there was a foundation built many years ago. We’ve chuckled about it, or I’ve said it, you know, ‘Oh, they finally went back to the name TNA.’ And I’m like, ‘What took you so freaking long?'”
On the beginning of the disaster: “The wheels began to come off when it was called Impact Wrestling, or TNA presents Impact Wrestling. And then ‘We’re going to drop TNA,’ and all that. I just think that was the beginning of the disaster. And they went through it and went through it, and then Len Asper and the family stepped in and started to pull the nose up, and all that. So just all of it — at the end of the day, I don’t think a brand sticks around unless there’s some there’s something to the asset that is of value. And when you kind of look at the highlights, and they’ve got the Dudleys and Hardys legacy match coming up, and a couple of other things going on. I think at the very core of it, it’s a platform, and the wrestling industry is very resilient.”
On the success of TNA: “And again, I don’t think anybody would have come to — whether it was Dixie wanting me out and succeeding in that. If there wasn’t something there for her to grab on to, she obviously wouldn’t have done the things she did. And then Billy [Corgan] wouldn’t have done that, and then the folks at Anthem wouldn’t have done that, and Scott D’Amore would have made an effort. They’re not just chasing empty air; they’re chasing an asset. And so I think that’s — at the end of the day, I attribute the success to, is that an asset was built pretty damn strong from 2002 to 2010. And that’s what they’re trying to grab on to. That’s what I attribute to the staying power, if you will. Does that make sense?”
