Maxxine Dupri has put in a lot of work to win over the WWE fanbase, and she recently reflected on her road to such in a new interview. Dupri had to put in a lot of work to turn the reaction to her into a positive one as she basically learned how to wrestle live on WWE TV. She has won the support of much of the fanbase at this point, something she reflected on while speaking with Adrian Hernandez.
Dupri reflected on her early days back at her WWE tryout and then spoke about putting in the work to win over the fans. She noted that sometimes you just have to accept that fans bought a ticket and can boo who they want to. You can see the highlights below:
On What She Remembers From Her Tryout:
“Oh my gosh. Probably how bad my back hurt from hitting the ropes. [laughs] It’s actually really crazy. Because — so the second day of the try out, like the back of my ribs were legit bruised. But it’s interesting how then when you start training, you truly do build this callous. And now it’s like, ‘Oh, I love hitting the ropes. It feels like I’m home.'”
On Winning Over Fans At WWE Live Crowds:
“Oh my gosh, it’s hard to put into words, honestly. I think kind of what we talked about today is just, rejection is just redirection. And I think at the end of the day, if you just keep working hard and you’re a kind person and you treat others with kindness and respect? It’s all going to come together. And there’s moments when it feels like it’s not going to and everything is just coming down on you really hard and heavy. But I think being able to then shift your mindset and having that positive mindset.
“And I think also being able to clock out. You know, fans come to a show. If they want to boo they can boo. They bought a ticket. And you know what? As long as I made someone smile, then I did my job and I can sleep at night, and I did I did what I came to do. As long as I was passionate and I performed, and as long as I went out there and I was safe and my opponent was safe, then it’s okay. But I think that journey has been just such a crazy — I don’t even want to say a hill. It was like a windy road.”
