Chelsea Green On Unifying Her Title Against Rhea Ripley: ‘It’s Win-Win For Me’

Chelsea Green says she’s not stressing her eventual Women’s Title unification against Rhea Ripley because it’s a win-win situation for her. Green won the Interim Women’s Championship at night two of SummerSlam in a five-woman ladder match. The title is an interim title while the current WWE Women’s Champion, Rhea Ripley, is out of action due to injury.

Green knows that she will eventually have to unify her title against Ripley, assuming she is still the interim champion when Ripley comes back. She spoke about having to face Ripley on Complex Graps and said that the pressure is on Ripley in that match. You can see the highlights below:

On Facing Ripley:

Look, I said this during the ladder match and I’ll say it again. This is a win-win for me. Because at the end of the day, I was surrounded in that ladder match by… women who had won a bunch of titles. And I was out here just scratching and clawing for my life. It’s the same thing with Rhea. Like, she has something to lose, I don’t. I’m just out here trying to do my best. I’m just out here trying to make a moment with this title. She has won multiple championships. She has the company on her back. I’m out here trying to get all these things.

“So if I lose, I lost to quite possibly the greatest female wrestler ever. If she loses to me, she lost to a comedy gal. She lost to the girl from Unreal, she lost to an indie wrestler, she lost to the underdog. And I love that for me. I’m going to go into it and I’m just going to do my best. That’s all I can do, you know? But I’m going to need a couple energy drinks before I have to face her. That’s for sure.”

On If She Knows How the Unification’s Going To Work:

“I don’t have any idea what’s happening tomorrow, okay? I don’t know who I’m talking to, who I’m talking to an hour from now for media. Like, I have no idea what’s going on. But I love to fly by the seat of my pants. One thing about me is, I work best under pressure. When someone gives me say a script last-minute like, I love fighting for my life, and I’ve been doing that for so long that it just comes it comes naturally now.

“So, you know, it is what it is. However, I will say — spoiler, there’s going to be a t-shirt dropping on Friday hopefully, and that should tell you how I feel about the whole ‘interim’ word.”
