Germaine de Randamie Says She’s Been Cleared to Start Training Again

In a post on her Instagram account, former UFC women’s featherweight champion Germaine de Randamie announced that her hand injury has healed, and she’s been cleared to return to training. De Randamie last fought at UFC 208 in February earlier this year, defeating Holly Holm in a controversial decision to win the inaugural women’s featherweight title.

De Randamie wrote, “Got the best news today (which feels like it’s been forever). Got green light from my doctor to start training again. Thank you so much Dr. Feitz for the great care. More determined than ever before I’m coming back stronger, faster more hungry than ever before!! DIE WITH MEMORIES, NOT DREAMS”

After winning the title, De Randamie voiced that she refused to fight top contender Cris “Cyborg” Justino due to Justino’s past drug test failures. De Randamie was stripped of the title, which was later won by Cyborg.

Randamie recently had to drop out of a fight at UFC Fight Night 115 over lingering right hand issues. She later underwent hand surgery before getting cleared to return to training. The UFC has not yet announced a new match-up for her. It seems unlikely she will get another shot at the featherweight title after refusing to fight Cyborg.
