Jon Jones Arrested On Misdemeanor Domestic Violence Charge

September 24, 2021 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

UFC fighter Jon Jones is in legal trouble again, as he was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence on Friday. ESPN reports that Jones was arrested by the Las Vegas Metropolitan PD on Friday morning and charged with misdemeanor battery domestic violence and injuring or tampering with a vehicle. The latter charge is a felony.

According to the report, Jones was arrested at 5:45 AM at a resort near Las Vegas Boulevard and Flamingo Road. He was on a 12-hour hold with an $8,000 bail and will appear in Las Vegas Justice Court on Saturday afternoon. The arrest comes hours after his fight with Alexander Gustafsson in 2013 was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame.

“It’s hard to bring this guy to Las Vegas, for any reason,” UFC president Dana White said. “This city is not good for Jon Jones and here we are again … It’s not even shocking anymore. When we bring him here, it’s almost expected. We can’t even get him to Las Vegas for less than 12 hours and induct him into the Hall of Fame. It’s a problem. This guy’s got a lot of demons, man, a lot of demons.”

Jones has previously been in trouble with the law several times, including a guilty plea on leaving the scene of an accident related to a 2015 hit-and-run incident and a March 2020 arrest in his home state of New Mexico on charges of DWI and negligent use of a firearm.
