411’s Official MMA Rankings

Middleweight Division (185 pounds)

1) Georges St. Pierre (26-2)

Height: 5’10

Birthday: May 19, 1981

Currently Fighting With: UFC

Last 5 fights:

– vs. Michael Bisping – Win via submission (rear naked choke) – UFC 217 – November 4, 2017

– vs. Johny Hendricks – Win via decision (split) – UFC 167: St. Pierre vs. Hendricks – November 16, 2013

– vs. Jake Shields – Win via decision (unanimous) – UFC 129: St. Pierre vs. Shields – April 30, 2011

Next scheduled appearance:

Comment: Well, that was quick. GSP vacated the UFC middleweight championship 33 days after winning it. In December, he announced he was suffering from colitis (the same disease Brock Lesnar faced years ago) and did not want the division to stagnant while he dealt with it. For the time being, I’ll keep GSP at the top of this list, though it appears likely, should he continue to pursue his fight career, he will return to welterweight.

2) Robert Whittaker (19-4)

Height: 6′

Birthday: December 20, 1990

Currently Fighting With: UFC

Last 5 fights:

– vs. Yoel Romero – Win via decision (unanimous) – UFC 213 – July 8, 2017

– vs. Jacare Souza – Win via TKO (strikes) – UFC on Fox – April 15, 2017

– vs. Derek Brunson – Win via TKO (strikes) – UFC Fight Night – November 26, 2016

– vs. Rafael Natal – Win via decision (unanimous) – UFC 197: Jones vs. St. Preux – April 23, 2016

– vs. Uriah Hall – Win via decision (unanimous) – UFC 193: Rousey vs. Holm – November 14, 2015

Next scheduled appearance:

– Unknown

Comment: In wake of GSP’s forfeiture, Whittaker was named the undisputed champion (though how that makes sense is unclear). Whittaker was all set to headline the UFC’s return to Australia this past weekend but had to withdraw back in January. A combination of injuries and infections forced him from the fight to determine the new champion. He expects to be back in action by the summer.

3) Gegard Mousasi (43-6-2)

Height: 6’0

Birthday: August 1, 1985

Currently Fighting With: Bellator MMA

– vs. Uriah Hall – Win via TKO (strikes) – UFC Fight Night – November 19, 2016

Comment: Mousasi was victorious in his Bellator debut Friday night which saw him pick up his sixth consecutive win in a decision against Alexander Shlemenko.

4) Yoel Romero (13-2)

Height: 5’10

Birthday: April 30, 1977

Currently Fighting With: UFC

Last 5 fights:

– vs. Luke Rockhold – Win via KO (strikes) – UFC 221 – February 11, 2018

– vs. Robert Whittaker – Loss via decision (unanimous) – UFC 213 – July 8, 2017

– vs. Chris Weidman – Win via KO (flying knee) – UFC 205: Alvarez vs. McGregor – November 12, 2016

– vs. Jacare Souza – Win via decision (split) – UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor – December 12, 2015

– vs. Lyoto Machida – Win via KO (elbows) – UFC Fight Night: Machida vs. Romero – June 27, 2015

Next scheduled appearance:

– Unknown

Comment: Because Romero missed weight by 2.7 pounds and forfeited a percentage of his purse money, but this weekend ended on a positive note for the Cuban as he knocked out Luke Rockhold in the third round. As he missed weight, despite beating Rockhold, he will not become the interim middleweight champion. However, a title fight with Robert Whittaker appears imminent this summer.

6) Luke Rockhold (16-4)

Currently Fighting With: UFC

Last 5 fights:

– vs. Yoel Romero – Loss via KO (strikes) – UFC 221 – February 11, 2018

– vs. David Branch – Win via TKO (submission to strikes) – UFC Fight Night – September 16, 2017

– vs. Michael Bisping – Loss via KO (punches) – UFC 199: Rockhold vs. Bisping 2 – June 4, 2016

– vs. Chris Weidman – Win via TKO (strikes) – UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor – December 12, 2015

– vs. Lyoto Machida – Win via submission (rear naked choke) – UFC on FOX: Machida vs. Rockhold – April 18, 2015

Next scheduled appearance:

– Unknown

Comment: You’ve got to feel for Rockhold, he gets his first crack at a UFC title since he lost the championship to Michael Bisping in 2016. He ends up being knocked out by an overweight Yoel Romero (his third knockout loss in the UFC). Back to the drawing board he goes.

– vs. Vitor Belfort – Win via TKO (strikes) – UFC 187: Cormier vs. Johnson – May 23, 2015

Next scheduled appearance:

– Unknown

Comment: Weidman has not been given a firm timeframe when he may return but he hopes it will be around the summer. He has been out of action thanks to a thumb injury that required surgery to replace a ligament with one from his wrist.
