Mirsad Bektic Talks About Recovering From ACL Injury
In an interview with MMA Junkie, UFC featherweight Mirsad Bektic (10-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) revealed that he has been cleared to train following an ACL injury he received three weeks before a planned fight with Tatsuya Kawajiri at the Ultimate Fighter 22 Finale. Here are highlights:
On not being the same person in the gym: “Now, it’s just more about controlling myself. My coaches are on the same page with my rehab guys and my conditioning guys, so everybody is working as a team. My volume has definitely gone down, compared to what I used to do.”
On his physical therapy sessions: “I was blessed to have the guy I did working with me. He’s an old-school Nebraska dude from the farm. All he did was talk smack to me, and sometimes, I would hate him. He kept me going.”
