UFC fighter Nik Lentz spoke to reporters in a media scrum following his win over Gray Maynard at UFC 229. Maynard talked about not getting a fight with Conor McGregor beforehand at featherweight due to some apparent rankings shenanigans and more. Below are some highlights (via MMAjunkie).

Nik Lentz on not being able to fight Conor McGregor: “It was my time to fight Conor. I was ranked No. 7. Dennis Siver was ranked No. 9. And everyone said, ‘You can’t give Conor (to) Dennis Siver, because he’s ranked ninth, and Lentz is ranked seventh. And the next day, I was ranked ninth, and he was ranked seventh, because that’s how it works.”

Nik Lentz on the sport not being about rankings: “They know that this sport is not about rankings. They know that this sport is about money. Whoever is producing the best money, and whoever is producing the best interviews – can you even argue with them? Look at this circus that Conor McGregor has made. If I ran this damn thing, I wouldn’t let anyone get close to him. I’d let him knock out people and tell them they were the best in the world. I’d break their legs before they went out there.”
