Shane Carwin Interested In Bellator’s Heavyweight Grand Prix
Last week, we reported that Bellator would be holding an eight-man heavyweight tournament next year featuring Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (37-12), Roy Nelson (23-14), Chael Sonnen (30-15-1), Frank Mir (18-11), “King Mo” (21-6, 1 NC), Fedor Emelianenko (36-5, 1 NC), Matt Mitrione (12-5) and Bellator light heavyweight champion Ryan Bader (24-5). One fighter who was left out, but is interested in appearing, is Shane Carwin.
He wrote on Facebook: “I sent Bellator MMA a request to get on as an Alternate for this amazing tournament. I really can’t wait to watch it either way but I am so pumped up for it I had to get my name on a list. I’d love a real title.”
He also posted a similar message on Twitter:
I emailed my friend @rich_chou a request to get on as an Alternate for this amazing @BellatorMMA tournament. I really can't wait to watch it either way but I am so pumped up for it I had to get my name on a list. I'd love a real title. #Bellator pic.twitter.com/jiysk6sBVb

He first revealed his interested in a post on Reddit, when odds for the tournament revealed “TBA” has better odds than three of the confirmed names. He wrote: “Nope, I am putting 10K on TBA and I am trying to become TBA. edit: So shit, management says I can bet on TBA but not be TBA. Or I can be TBA and not bet on the event. I have been put on time out.“
