Anthony “Rumble” Johnson, who twice fought for the UFC light heavyweight title, has passed away. Yahoo! Sports reports that the UFC alumnus and Bellator fighter passed away on Sunday from organ failure due to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. He was 38 years old.

Johnson was known by his nickname “Rumble” and had two stints in the UFC, with the first starting in 2017. Known for his knockout power, Johnson amassed a 17 – 6 record in the UFC that included two fights against Daniel Cormier for the light heavyweight title.

He went 23 – 6 throughout his MMA career, including a win in his final fight at Bellator 258 in May of 2021. Johnson had retired from the UFC after his second loss to Cormier at UFC 210 in April of 2017, but parted ways with the company and signed with Bellator in December of 2020. He had been scheduled to face Vadim Nemkov for the Bellator Light Heavyweight Championship in October of last year but was forced to pull out of the bout due to illness.

On behalf of 411, our condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Mr. Johnson.
