Andrew Garfield is throwing some cold water on those reports that he’s reprising his Amazing Spider-Man role as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home. It has been reported for a while that Garfield and Tobey Maguire will be reprising their respective versions of Peter for the MCU film, which already has confirmed the returns of Alfred Molina as Doctor Octopus and Jamie Foxx as Electro. Speakring with the Happy Sad Confused podcast though, Garfield said that this isn’t the case.

“There isn’t anything to ruin bro! I have to just quickly cut you off. There’s nothing to ruin. Like it’s so crazy too,” Garfield said (per JoBlo). “Dude, it’s f****** hilarious to me because it’s like…I do have this Twitter account and I see like how often Spider-Man is trending and it’s people freaking out about a thing and I’m just like…guys, guys guys guys like…I wish I could just be able to speak to everyone and say like, I recommend that you chill. Like listen, I can’t speak for anything else but for myself. They might be doing something, but I ain’t got a call.”

Of course, there is always the possibility that Garfield is playing coy. Tatiana Maslany denied that she had been cast in She-Hulk before that casting was announced, and that’s just one example of many in terms of Marvel stars playing things close to the vest.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set to release on December 17th and stars Tom Holland is back as Peter Parker/Spider-Man and he’ll officially be joined by Zendaya, Maria Tomei, Jamie Foxx, Benedict Cumberbatch, Alfred Molina, Jacob Batalon, and J.B. Smoove.
