Deadline.com reports that Apple has closed a deal for a TV series based on Terry Gilliam’s beloved fantasy film, Time Bandits. The show is planned as a co-production between Anonymous Content, Paramount TV and Media Rights Capital.

The original film was released in 1980. The story follows a boy and history buff named Kevin who stumbles onto four dwarfs who appear from his closet. They are former workers of the Supreme Being and have stolen a map that charts all the holes in the fabric of space time to steal riches from one historical era to another.

The characters visit many historical figures and legends throughout the story, including Napoleon Bonaparte and Robin Hood. Meanwhile, the Supreme Being tries to find them to retrieve the map.

Additionally, Gilliam is attached as a non-writing executive producer alongside Anonymous and MRC.
