Arrow Set to End Next Year With Season 8
Variety reports that the hit DC Comics TV series, Arrow, will be ending its run after Season 8. The show’s final season will run from 2019-2020, where the show will return for its final 10 episodes.
Speaking on the subject, executive producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Beth Schwartz said in a joint statement:“This was a difficult decision to come to, but like every hard decision we’ve made for the past seven years, it was with the best interests of ‘Arrow’ in mind. We’re heartened by the fact that ‘Arrow’ has birthed an entire universe of shows that will continue on for many years to come. We’re excited about crafting a conclusion that honors the show, its characters and its legacy and are grateful to all the writers, producers, actors, and — more importantly — the incredible crew that has sustained us and the show for over seven years.”
Series star Stephen Amell, who plays Oliver Queen, had a message on the show ending on Twitter. He wrote, “Playing Oliver Queen has been the greatest professional experience of my life… but you can’t be a vigilante forever…There’s so much to say… for now I just want to say thank you.”
The show first debuted on The CW in 2012 and is still one of the network’s top-rated shows. It later spawned multiple “Arrowverse” spinoffs for an inter-connected universe of other DC shows, including The Flash, Supergirl, and Legends of Tomorrow. The CW is currently working on a pilot for Batwoman for the network, starring Ruby Rose as the titular hero.
Arrow is produced by Bonanza Productions Inc. in association with Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
