Bowser Jr. Lays Siege to the Mushroom Kingdom in Latest Trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie

Bowser Jr. reigns supreme and lays waste to the Mushroom Kingdom in the latest trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. And oh yeah, it’s now been confirmed by Universal Pictures that Donald Glover is voicing Yoshi in the new animated movie. You can check out the newly revealed trailer below.

The new trailer shows Bowser Jr. attacking the Mushroom Kingdom’s palace to free his imprisoned dear old dad, Bowser (Jack Black), the King of the Koopas. Meanwhile, it looks like Princess Peach (Anya Taylor-Joy) goes on her own sidequest with Toad (Keegan-Michael Key), where they encounter Wart, who fans will recall as the main boss from Super Mario Bros. 2.

New to the cast for the sequel is Luis Guzmán, voicing Wart, and Issa Rae will be voicing Honey Queen. Also new to the cast is Brie Larson as Princess Rosalina. Other returning cast members include Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

The upcoming sequel is once again directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, with a script by Matthew Fogel. It’s produced by Chris Meledandri and Shigeru Miyamoto.

The first movie in the franchise grossed more than $1.3 billion worldwide. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is co-financed by Universal Pictures and Nintendo, and it will be released worldwide by Universal Pictures in theaters on April 1.
