Bruce Campbell has revealed some new details on the next Evil Dead movie, including who will direct it. Campbell spoke with Empire for a new interview and said that Lee Cronin, who directed the 2019 horror film The Hole in the Ground, is Sam Raimi’s choice to direct the film — which also has a name.

“It’s called Evil Dead Now,” Campbell told the site. “Sam handpicked Lee – he did a cool movie called The Hole in the Ground. We’re going to get that sucker out as soon as practical.”

The film will not feature Campbell’s Ash; Campbell has retired the character and has no plans to play him again. Instead it will tell a new story within the Evil Dead world.

“From this point forward, they kind of have to stand on their own. Which is fine. And liberating,” says Campbell. “You could have different heroes, different heroines in this case. This one’s gonna be a little more dynamic.” He added: “We jut want to keep the series current. And the mantra, really, is that our heroes and heroines are just regular people. That’s what we’re going to continue.”
