Candyman Director Nia DaCosta to Helm Captain Marvel Sequel

Marvel has found their director for the upcoming Captain Marvel sequel in Nia DaCosta, who directed the Candyman revival. Deadline reports that Disney and Marvel have tapped DaCosta to direct the upcoming film, taking over from Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck who directed the first film.

Marvel and Disney had no comment on the report. The first film was another of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s huge successes, grossing $1.13 billion worldwide and positioning Brie Larson’s titular character as a major player within the MCU.

The as-yet-untitled Captain Marvel sequel is currently set for a July 8th, 2022 release date.
