CM Punk Joins Cast of Indie Horror Feature Night Patrol Opposite Justin Long, Dermot Mulroney, & RJ Cyler
Per The Hollywood Reporter, WWE Superstar CM Punk has joined the cast of the upcoming indie horror feature, Night Patrol, opposite Justin Long, Jermaine Fowler, Dermot Mulroney, and RJ Cyler. The film is currently in the works from director and co-writer Ryan Prows.
The story follows an LAPD officer (Fowler), who must put aside his differences with the area’s street gangs after discovering a local police task force harbors a horrific secrets that endangers the residents of the housing projects where he grew up. Long portrays the partner of Fowler’s character, who is recruited as a legacy into the night patrol.
CM Punk and Mulroney reportedly have key roles in the feature. Cyler will portray the brother of Fowler’s character, who sees something he wasn’t supposed to see. Mulroney portrays the father of Long’s character, a sergeant with many secrets. Meanwhile, Punk portrays the sergeant’s brutal right-hand man.
Also rounding out the cast are Freddie Gibbs, YG, Flying Lotus, Jon Oswald, and Nicki Micheaux. David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, Blade) and Keith Levine are producing the project under their Phantom Four production banner. Josh Goldbloom is also producing the project, along with Tea Shop Films’ James Harris and Mark Lane.
Prows directs from a script he co-wrote with Shaye Ogbonna (Fight Night), Tim Cairo, and Jake Gibson. They previously collaborated on Prows’ feature directorial debut, Lowlife, which was released by IFC Midnight in 2018. This will be Prows’ second feature.
XYZ Films is executive producing the project and overseeing world sales, with financing provided by Bondit Media Capital. Matthew Helderman, Luke Taylor and Grady Craig are executive producing the project for Bondit. Speaking on the upcoming feature, Prows stated, “Audiences are not ready for how hard this movie goes. To shoot this script, with this cast, on location in Los Angeles, after such a long path to get here is nothing short of a dream.”
Night Patrol is currently eyeing a 2025 release.
