Daredevil Showrunner Doesn’t Think Kingpin Should Be Recast

The showrunner for Daredevil believes that Vincent D’Onofrio is the only real choice for bringing Kingpin into the MCU. Steven DeKnight took to Twitter earlier this month to respond to a fan tweet expressing a desire to see D’Onofrio reprise his role from the Netflix Marvel series in the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe. DeKnight agreed, writing:

“Recasting @vincentdonofrio as Wilson Fisk would be like trying to recast @RobertDowneyJr as Tony Stark or @ChrisEvans as Steve Rogers. Impossible!”

D’Onofrio played Wilson Fisk in Daredevil and has been passionate about reprising the role, expressing his desire to do so several times. The Marvel Netflix properties are reportedly now back in the hands of Marvel, and there are unconfirmed reports that Charlie Cox, who played Daredevil, was on set filming for Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Marvel, meanwhile, has stayed quiet on when and if we might see Kingpin in the MCU again.
